Game NotesWith both defences looking decidedly suspect in the opening stages a goal feast seemed quite likely and the first goal arrived after only 8 minutes when Amersham sliced through the heart of the Borough defence and Jude Eboji slammed a shot low to Daniel White’s right which gave him no chance. Plenty of chances were created at both ends and Chima Obiji blasted high over an open goal when a side foot would have been sufficient. Karl Lewis worked his way in from the left and although fouled in the area hit his shot against a post with the goal at his mercy as the referee played advantage. Amersham’s tall powerful left winger Rodney Hicks was proving a real handful and when he slammed over a perfect cross Borough had a let off as it was headed against the underside of the bar from just a few feet out and after bouncing on the line was hacked clear. With Melvin Thompson and Daniel Ailey introduced at half time Borough tore into their opponents straight from the restart and penned them back for long periods but without fashioning any clear cut openings in front of goal. It was not until the introduction of Sam Joiner, on for the injured Harry Hillyard in the 72nd minute, that Borough drew level as Joiners very first duty was to take a throw in on the left which led to Obiji being fed just inside the penalty area and he turned and lashed an unstoppable cross shot into the roof of the net. Borough now looked the likely winners with Amersham now posing little threat and in the 85th minute Obiji nodded a simple goal just inside the far post as a cross from the left reached him. Amersham did have a fine chance to draw level but a free header from a right wing cross was headed well over. Two minutes into injury time Ailey made space near the left corner flag to drive a fierce low ball across the face of the goal and the speedy Karl Lewis was racing forward to neatly deflect it just inside the far post. That goal put Borough back on top of the table by a goal difference one superior to that of erstwhile leaders Kentish Town who surprisingly lost 3-5 at home to Stony Stratford Town. Borough also have 2 games in hand on them. The win maintains new Manager Allan Fenn’s 100% record with 3 wins since he took over with Borough having found the net three times in each game.

Borough squad:- Daniel White, Harry Hillyard (Sam Joiner), Lloyd Mitchell, Kieran Donnelly, Andrew Stokes, Tommy Lambourne (Melvin Thompson), Mark Maher (Daniel Ailey), Leon Rolle, Chima Obiji, Karl Lewis, Ronardson Obinna
