================================= 28th September STILL UNBEATEN(IN CUP COMPETITIONS) One of the best matches seen at Coles for some time saw us book a place in Monday's 4th (and final) Qualifying Round draw of the Emirates FA Cup – albeit with the considerable hurdle of a replay at Lowestoft Town’s Crown Meadow ground next Tuesday evening to be overcome if we are to appear in that Round. The Step 1 National League Clubs enter at this stage. A Joe Waight hat-trick and a great penalty save by Michael Aquah saw us through - allied, of course, to some fine defending. We made light of the absence of 3 players who would normally be in the probable starting eleven since, as so often happens, the re-shuffled line-up stepped up to the plate. The Step 3 “Trawlerboys” made all the early running and it was no surprise when they created and took their chance to secure a 5th minute lead and at that stage it looked as if they might quite quickly get the game sewn up but after about 10 minutes we sparked into life and Joe wriggled in from the left to fire across the ‘keeper into the far corner. Play then became more even but it needed Michael’s expertise to get down low to his right and push away a hard struck penalty, the award of which had seemed a bit harsh. We then began to look more like a Step 3 side too, which of course we were until 4 months ago, and the interval arrived with no further score. Again, Lowestoft made the better start to the second half so again their taking the lead with a close range shot after around 10 minutes was no surprise. But that really stirred us into life as we powered forward time and time again and equalised thanks to a fine run and composed finish by Joe; and it was he who put the icing on the cake as he applied the decisive last touch to a goal mouth scramble to put us ahead with about 15 minute left to play. Unfortunately, running down the clock successfully is not really our forte so again it was no great surprise when Lowestoft equalised right at the end of normal time with a goal direct from a free-kick about five yards out from the penalty box and slightly to the left of centre. In the five minutes of added time we had to deal with two corners and did so competently. This was our 8th unbeaten Cup game of the season. Lowestoft Town's ground is Crown Meadow, Love Road, Lowestoft, NR32 2PA and its 125 miles from Coles Park. The 4th Qualifying Round draw on Monday will be broadcast live at 3pm on talkSPORT Radio (1089kHz). (Unfortunately the weather caused the postponement of our replay - but not before our coach had almost reached Ipswich - and we will be trying to go further next Tuesday 8th October - and the winners of the replay will be at home to Weston-Super-Mare of the National League South whose replay at home to Chippenhm Town did go ahead and they won it 1-0). So the Home London Senior Cup game with Barking on 8th October will be postponed to a date yet to be announced..............The UNDER 23’s travelled to meet unbeaten CSM London at Parsloes Park on Friday evening and lost by the only goal of the game.................but disappointingly the WOMEN lost their third home League game when Stevenage visited Coles Park on Sunday. In the first half they did well to come back from two down with an equaliser a few seconds before half time. Stevenage then dominated the second half and scrambled home a corner midway to win the match 3-2 ================================= 2nd July SEASON TICKETS granting entry to all our remaining 19 Isthmian League HOME matches are again on offer at a cost of £30.
