19th October

   THE JEKYLL & HYDE COMPLEX STRIKES AGAIN

After our improved performances at Ipswich last Saturday and at home last Tuesday few would have expected us to follow them up with a five-nil defeat at home.  Once again we conceded a goal within the first few minutes but for the next twenty we camped in Brentwood Town’s half and it needed some fine goalkeeping by the visiting custodian to prevent us from getting at least an equaliser which seemed inevitable had we continued in the same vein.  But when they broke free the visitors looked dangerous and with some  generous help from us held a  three goal lead at half time.   Not even the introduction of Tuesday’s super-sub Georgios Aresti could turn the tide and the visiting ‘keeper never had further chances to display his expertise.  Only two more goals were scored, both by Brentwood, one being another generous gift from us,  and the bar prevented an even worse scoreline……………..now for some good news for both the Under 23s and The Womens team had been in action on Friday evening and both won…….. The UNDER 23s defeated one of our several fellow Championship contenders, Ongar Town, by 2-1 at Coles Park, marking a splendid opening game for their new Management duo of Chris O’dell and  Ricky Gaylor……….the WOMEN successfully beat the travelling difficulties of an evening game in South London to visit the War Memorial Stadium of Carshalton Athletic –  rarely a happy hunting ground for our Men - and knocked their hosts out of the Isthmian Women’s Cup by 4-1.   Not as comfortably as the result suggests for after taking an early lead with a well placed shot across the ‘keeper and low into the corner from just inside the area a saveable 30 yard  free kick disappointingly  found its way into our net to make it 1-1 at half time.  Early in the second half it was our turn to score via a long free kick from the left, perfectly flighted over the ‘keeper into the far top corner..  After the crossbar had prevented Carshalton drawing level from yet another free kick, we added a third in a goalmouth scramble but it was not until Ronnell Humes blasted a 25 yarder into the top corner ten minutes from time that we could feel it was “job done”.

SEASON TICKETS granting  entry to all our remaining 19 Isthmian League HOME matches are again on offer at a cost of £30.  To obtain one visit the Club's Official Website (access it via the LINKS tab on the left and choose the third entry from the top).     Entry for non-season Ticket holders will be £10 with Concessions* at £5 and Under 18s free. 

CLUB MEMBERSHIP costing £50 (concessions £25*) is also available.  To obtain details and become a member visit the Club's Official Website. (access it as for Season Tickets) 

* meaning Over 60s, Students of 18+, NHS Staff, Armed Forces Personnel, Unemployed

CHARTER STANDARD ACHIEVED

The Club has now been awarded FA Adult Club Charter Standard Status

FA CUP & TROPHY DRAWS ANNOUNCED

In the Preliminary Round of the FA CUP, Borough will visit either FELIXTOWE & WALTON UNITED (who finished 5th in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League last season) or BARKING (3rd in the Essex Senior League) on Saturday 29th August

In the Preliminary Round of the FA TROPHY, Borough will visit FOLKESTONE INVICTA (runners up in Ryman League Division One South last season) on 3rd October.

Success in that game would result in a visit to DUNSTABLE TOWN (14th in the Evostik Southern League - Premier Division)

RYMAN LEAGUE CONSTITUTION CONFIRMED

The Constitution of the Ryman Leage was confirmed at the League AGM held on Sunday 14^th June at the Wembley Hilton Hotel.

Borough are members of a 24 team DIVISION ONE NORTH and will be playing:-

League Matches commence on Saturday 8^th August

JOHN PATMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY WINNER

           FOR 2014/15 is:-

DARRELL COX

The presentation of the silver plate was made to Darrell at the Club’s social evening held in the Clubhouse on 4^th June.   Well deserved recognition for his 38 goal haul – all the more remarkable as injury and work restricted his appearances to 30 from a possible 49 games

The Trophy is awarded annually in memory of our long term supporter, John Patman , who sadly passed away in 2013 and thus missed our hugely successful  final two years as a Level 5 Club

Below is a copy paste of an e-mail received by the Secretary today from the FA Leagues & Clubs Manager:-

Good evening John

I am writing to advise you that at a meeting of the Leagues Committee held earlier today the promotion of Haringey Borough FC to Step 4 of the National League System was confirmed.

The club has been allocated to the Isthmian League Division One North for season 2015/2016.
