  LATEST NEWS AND URGENT NOTICES

24th February

THE GREAT ESCAPE IS UNDERWAY

If we are to escape relegation this was really a must win game.   And we did.  Jorge Djassi Sambu put us ahead after 64 minutes and that was the only goal of the game thus giving us our second home League win of the season. Our flurry of midweek games is over and next Saturday will see us visit Potters Bar Town – usually a graveyard for our hopes. We have only one more midweek trip scheduled and that is on Tuesday 12th March when we will visit either Badshot Lea or Hashtag United (who play their outstanding game this coming Tuesday) in the semi-final of the Velocity (i.e the League) Cup

What do we now need to do to complete our great escape ?

From our remaining 10 games we MUST

Pick up at least 5 points more than Margate do from their remaining 11 and

Pick up at least 3 points more than Cheshunt do from their remaining 13 and (4 from 12 after miweek game)

Pick up at least 1 point more than Concord Rangers do from their remaining 17 (16 after midweek game)and

Pick up not more than 3 points less than Kingstonian do from their remaining 13 (2 from 12 after midweek game)

The gap between 17th and 18th teams is now 7 points (8 after midweek game) but as an alternative to one of the top four we could pick up 12 points more than Folkestone Invicta do from their remaining 12 games (13 from 11 after midweek game)

Its probably unrealistic to think about overtaking any of the top 16 - the 16th placed team already has 35 points (36 after midweek game)

Only 3 of our last 7 games are against teams who seem unlikely to feature in either play-off or relegation scrambles. 2 are relegation rivals and 5 are play off chasers. A BIG ASK BUT HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL ..................the UNDER 23s had no game and theit most important remaining sheduled fixture is on March 30th when they take on runaway leaders FC Baresi at Wodson Park in the semi-final of the Senior Division Cup.............the WOMENS TEAM also had no game on Sunday and the highlight of their season will be on Sunday 17th March when they entertain National League Actonians  in the semi final of the Capital Womens Senior Cup. The other semi-final will be between AFC Wimbledon and the inner of the outstanding tie between Ashford Town (Middlesex) and London Seaward.

JOHN PATMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY WINNER

           FOR 2014/15 is:-

DARRELL COX

The presentation of the silver plate was made to Darrell at the Club’s social evening held in the Clubhouse on 4th June.   Well deserved recognition for his 38 goal haul – all the more remarkable as injury and work restricted his appearances to 30 from a possible 49 games

The Trophy is awarded annually in memory of our long term supporter, John Patman , who sadly passed away in 2013 and thus missed our hugely successful  final two years as a Level 5 Club
