EDGY LONDON SENIOR CUP WIN SETS UP MATCH WITH OUR GROUND SHARERS

Haringey looked to have the match well in hand when they secured a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.   But visiting Lewisham Borough had other ideas and were level before the interval.    Haringey failed to heed the warning and it was no surprise when the visitors took a 53rd minute lead.    But Haringey got a grip late on and 2 goals turned the tie in their favour and they held on through a nervy last ten minutes and stoppage time.    In the next round Borough will meet Haringey  & Waltham Development FC - the Essex Senior League team ground sharing at Coles Park - who made a more convincing entrance to the 3rd Round with a fine 3-1 win at Kent League team Fisher last Monday.

LACKLUSTRE DISPLAY ENDS WINNING RUN

Borough's below par performance at Stotfold deserved no more than the 1-1 draw it produced.    The injury hit home side showed greater desire from start to finish.  And it could have been worse for the Borough goal survived several narrow squeaks in the closing stages.   Borough remain 6th in the table but have played the highest number of games of any Club in the Premier Division -14 which is 1/3rd of the programme and if the 24 point haul is repeated in the other matches then 72 points will not be enough to secure promotion.

.....and on Sunday the Womens teams 3 match winning League run came to an end too although they certainly deserved a point they didn't get after hitting the bar and a post and having a last minute effort kicked off the line as Colchester Town left with the points with a goal scrambled home early in the seconf half following a corner

WINNING RUN EXTENDED TO 3 GAMES

Borough produced a "purple patch" midway through the first half to secure a 3-0 lead at Berkhamsted in a 15 minute spell  in a match that was otherwise an even contest with Borough's keeper being just as busy as the home custodian.    A goal a-piece after the interval saw Borough leave 4-1 winners.   The win maintained 6th position with Borough now only 7 points behind leaders Dunstable Town but having played a game more.

PLEASE SUPPORT A REALLY WORTHWHILE CAUSE

On Friday 26th October, the Club is very pleased to have the opportunity to make the ground available for a Charity game featuring an Arsenal Celebrity XI.   This will be a match staged to raise funds for medical treatment needed  by a local lad who needs stem cell treatment abroad for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

As well as the football match it will be a family fun evening starting at 5pm  and will include a Bouncy castle and BBQ.   Drinks and snacks will be available.   Tickets can be obtained in advance  £4, children £2, from the organiser Paul Turner on 07894 955163 or by e-mail to mrpault@hotmail.com

COMFORTABLE WIN LIFTS BOROUGH TO 6th

A 2-0 home success against a team one place off the foot of the table probably fits the "bread and butter win" description.   Holmer Green threatened to cause problems for a spell mid-way through the first half in which Borough's performance was far from the best they are capable of.    Finishing repeatedly let Borough down but Roland Namquita finally broke the deadlock after an hour with a close range finish and six minutes later Borough nerves were eased when Darrell Cox blasted home a spot kick after Chris Benjamin had been clumsily sent tumbling by the 'keeper.

........and not to be outdone the Women too recorded a 2-0 win at Coles Park on Sunday, also with the aid of a penalty (by Carrie-Anne Layton) and a smart  Erika Vareckova finish against visiting Barking.   The points lifted them to 3rd in the table.

CHAIRMAN ANNOUNCES EXCITING NEW SPONSORSHIP

Following on from our successful sponsorship during the summer with the Buckingham Construction Group and the assistance they kindly gave I am delighted to say that The Club have now secured a long term sponsorship deal with Selco Builders Warehouse.

Our Sponsors have moved into the locality and their Warehouse is directly opposite our Ground .

Selco were instrumental in arranging a meeting with us to see what assistance they could provide to facilitate the provision of a good standard of football in respect of both our Men's first team and our Ladies team.

To be associated with a Company of such magnitude is tremendous for a Club our size and we firmly believe that with the support that is to be given to us that we will increase our profile locally and as a consequence attract more spectators which will help the Club achieve our aims of promotion for both our Men and Women.

We would invite the local community to venture down to one of our games and I assure them they will be impressed with both our new facilities and the standard of football . See details of all forthcoming fixtures on this website.

NARROW MIDWEEK WIN LIFTS BOROUGH TO 8th

Borough edged home 2-1 against visiting Hadley who had so comprehensively beaten them three weeks earlier in the FA Vase.   But they had to come from behind and relied on 2 set piece goals - one a penalty and the other a free kick to take an interval lead.  Late on in the match Hadley exerted sustained pressure but te clinical finishing which had destroyed Borough in the Vase game was not in evidence this time.   The win puts Borough on 17 points, some 10 behind leaders Dunstable Town having played the same number of games (11) who regained top spot with a 4-0 win at Leverstock Green.
