Fuller report under "Fixtures & Results" Aug 28, 2012, 11:21 pm MIDWEEK DISAPPOINTMENT Borough returned from Harefield United losers by the odd goal in three after an end to end game by two sides full of attacking intent. Two crisply taken goals just after the half hour mark put “The Hares” in the driving seat and it was not until three minutes from time that Borough’s efforts were rewarded when Darrell Cox nodded home a corner to set up a nervy few minutes for the hosts. Aug 27, 2012, 11:28 am BOROUGH SIGN FULL IRISH INTERNATIONAL Borough are delighted to have signed JOE O’CEARUILL – a central defender with 2 full Republic of Ireland caps to his name. Joe boasts an impressive CV for after playing at Youth level for Leyton Orient and Watford he was signed on a professional contract by Arsenal making the bench for their first team and playing for their Reserves. Loaned out to Brighton & Hove Albion he made 8 first team appearances there before signing for Barnet for which Club he turned out 15 times. A spell in the Republic with St. Patricks Athletic in season 2008/09 was followed by a return to England and appearances for Harlow Town, Borehamwood, Forest Green Rovers, Bishops Stortford; and finally in the Ryman League Premier Division with Tooting and Mitcham United last season on contract terms. We hope Joe will have a long and distinguished career with us and that his extensive experience will help fulfil our own Ryman ambitions. Aug 25, 2012, 6:36 pm AWAY DAY JOY As was to be expected, this being Borough’s first away game, the performance was better than anything seen in the previous 4 games at Coles Park. Following on from last season success ratio of 60% at Coles Park and 70% away from home. Whilst Borough will probably not be gifted such an easy goal again this season as that which gave them a 4th minute lead at Hertford Town the profligate wasting of opportunities was absent. Far less than usual were created but the two put away in the first quarter of an hour were sufficient to secure a 2-1 win. Aug 21, 2012, 11:49 pm ITS GETTING TO BE BEYOND A JOKE If it was thought that the Borough finishing could not get any worse than that served up in the the two previous games that hope was emphatically dispelled by the interval after Borough had enjoyed by far the greater share of possession and a nervous defence had gifted them the ball in dangerous positions on more than one occasion. It can only be assumed that the players had decided to hold a private competition to see who could put in the shot widest of the mark ! The visiting keeper who should have been given the opportunity to be his teams hero might as well have stayed in the dressing room. After the restart Leverstock Green grew in confidence and showed how it should be done as they seized a comparatively rare half chance of their own to win the game in the 75th minute.
Aug 19, 2012, 8:12 pm AND THE WOMEN SHOW THAT THEY CAN BE JUST AS WASTEFUL TOO! BUT ALLS WELL THAT ENDS WELL Borough Women should have been out of sight by the interval based on the number of fine opportunities created , but had netted only one of the more difficult chances through Eleftheria Taladianou. But it was a different story after the interval as Sawbridgeworth Town siezed the initiative but fortunately showed that they could be just as wasteful. Even so only the inside of a post and some fine saves by 'keeper Onyinye Nkemdirim preserved the lead before "Ellie" doubled the score to make the game safe five minutes from the end.
Aug 18, 2012, 7:05 pm WASTEFUL AGAIN - AND THIS TIME BOROUGH PAY A PRICE Once again Borough had enough fine chances to have made the game safe by the interval and wasted all but one of them. So Ampthill Towns mid second-half equaliser cost two points but the visitors had a particularly bright spell of their own straight after the interval and fortunately they too did not make the most of some fine opportunities. Aug 15, 2012, 12:48 am WASTEFUL BOROUGH GET AWAY WITH IT It was fortunate that London Tigers consolation stoppage goal time was no more than that, for Borough could have been regretting having missed a host of gilt edged chances; but the one in each half which were put away garnered the points from this opening League game. |
