Borough will be one of the 5 teams to come through the early rounds to join the Premier Division sides in the last 16. Oct 29, 2011, 9:08 pm THREE POINTS THROWN AWAY – TWO PLACES DOWN Many fine chances made in the first half should have put Borough in a commanding position at the interval but all were wasted and this, allied with an elementary lack of concentration after conceding a free kick, sent Borough in a goal down against visiting AFC Dunstable. A fine free kick by Christopher Benjamin equalised but another avoidable mistake when an attempted 40 yard back pass conceded a corner from which the visitors scored a late winner left Borough empty handed and in 8th place in the table as both the visitors and Dunstable Town overtook Borough. Oct 25, 2011, 10:51 pm UNBEATEN RUN ENDED Borough's nine match undefeated run came to an unmemorable end at Barking where the home sides solitary goal after 32 minutes sent Borough out of the London Senior Cup. Borough failed to spark into life until the last 30 minutes which they then dominated but poor finishing wasted all the promising approach play. Oct 24, 2011, 12:47 pm FA VASE DRAW - SECOND ROUND PROPER Yet another draw against fellow Spartan Leaguers - and its against TRING ATHLETIC who eliminated us from last years Competition. But this time we are going to their Grass Roots Stadium on 19th November. Oct 23, 2011, 8:07 pm WOMENS GOAL SPREE FINISHES A FINE WEEKEND The score when Borough visited East Thurrock United was a convincing 6-2 victory but it conceals a massive contribution by stand-in ‘keeper Onyinye Nkemdirim who pulled off a series of close range blocks at a crucial time in the game. Eleftheria Taladianoy spearheaded Borough’s attack with a display of strength and skill which brought her a hat trick while Sarah Cleary, Michelle Thomas and Jade Bowley also found the net as Borough extended their winning run to three consecutive matches. Oct 22, 2011, 8:56 pm SAFELY THROUGH TO ROUND 2 OF THE VASE A match which will be remembered mainly for Richard Worrell’s stunning 43rd minute volley to open the scoring followed by a clinical second from Roland Namquita a minute later. The 2-0 win over Hadley puts Borough into the draw for the Second Round of the FA Carlsberg Vase on Monday Oct 18, 2011, 10:53 pm ANOTHER 4-0 WIN It is doubtful if Borough have ever enjoyed back to back 4-0 wins in the space of four days but once the opening sparring was over Borough seized control of their League Trophy match at Harefield United and after Mario Georgiou had put them ahead they never looked likely to be in danger of elimination and further goals from Richard Worrell, Christopher Benjamin and Roland Namquita secured a comfortable win. A trip to Berkhamsted in the Third Round is their reward.
Oct 16, 2011, 8:31 pm WOMENS GREAT COMEBACK BRINGS ARSENAL TO WHITE HART LANE In a stormy game which was their hardest match of the season Borough Women overcame adversity to win 3-1 away to Hampstead Women in the First Round of the London Womens Senior Cup. Despite falling behind just after the interval and losing Erika Vareckova to an injury necessitating the summoning of paramedics and finishing with 9 players having lost the services later in the game of two players, who each picked up two yellow cards, Borough scored three times for a hard earned victory. Arsenal probably think they have played in White Hart Lane umpteen times but actually have not really done so , but their Reserves will do so as they will be coming to Coles Park in January in the 2nd Round. |
