BOROUGH COME BACK FROM 2 DOWN.....
Mar 29, 2011, 11:22 pm

......A POINT WON ?  OR  TWO LOST ?

For the third successive game Borough started slowly and were sloppy in defence and found themselves two down after 18 minutes against a lively Oxhey Jets side.     Pleasure at a recovery which saw them pick up a point was tempered by a feeling that they should have gone on to win based on the chances created especially after the visiting 'keeper was dismissed midway through the second half as he conceded the penalty which Daniel Ailey smashed home to equalise.

CONVINCING 5-1 WIN PROVES......

........THERE'S NO LOGIC IN FOOTBALL !

Saturday 19 March   HERTFORD TOWN 1   HATFIELD TOWN 3

Tuesday 22 March    HARINGEY BOROUGH 1 HERTFORD TOWN 3

Saturday 26 March   HATFIELD TOWN 1 HARINGEY BOROUGH 5

Plainly not a result many would have forecast in the light of results in the past seven days. Nor did it look a likely outcome at the interval when Borough had just equalised Hatfield's mid-half opening goal.   But Borough showed the skilful approach play of which they are known to be capable right from the start of the second half and from that point on there only looked one likely winner;  and so it proved as Borough ran in four goals without reply.   The win lifted Borough above Hatfield in the table and they also overtook Dunstable Town following their unexpected defeat by Harefield United to climb into 7th place.

DISMAL PERFORMANCE AS..........
Mar 23, 2011, 1:13 am

.........HERTFORD TOWN END BOROUGH'S UNBEATEN RUN

It was difficult to recognise the Borough team that was outplayed and outfought by the determined visitors, who got their just reward, with the team that had dominated the League leaders only 7 days previously.   There were line up changes but not such as to justify the enormous gulf between the two performances.   The expression "Jeckyll & Hyde" comes to mind.   Borough were fortunate to be only two down at the interval and quickly conceded a third.  Getting into gear after 75 minutes or so  was never going to be enough and Richard Worrells powerful 80th minute consolation header following a fine run and cross by Miguel Martins was the only highlight from Borough's point of view.

BOROUGH UP TO 8th WITH...

.........ANOTHER 1-0 WIN

A third clean sheet is cause for celebratation but this soliary goal win bore no resemblance to the exciting victory by the same score the previous Tuesday.    It was fitting that a defender earned the spoils for there had been little to suggest that the strikers of either side would break the stalemate until right back Rakim Richards arrived unchallenged on the six yard line, having stayed forward when a free kick had been cleared, and sent a thumping header into the roof of the net as Jamie Brandon returned the ball into the danger area.

BOROUGH CLAIM SCALP OF LEAGUE LEADERS
Mar 15, 2011, 11:57 pm

SUPERB ALL ROUND  PERFORMANCE EARNS ITS REWARD

Anyone not in the know could have been forgiven for thinking that Borough were the League leaders as they tore into Chalfont St. Peter right from the start and should gave been ahead at the interval by more than the 38th minute lead secured when Daniel Ailey just got a faint touch to a wickedly flighted free kick from Theo Charalambos.   After the interval it was the turn of the Borough defence to show its mettle and they did so more than adequately with the nearest to an equaliser coming when Demetri Stratis just managed to slice the ball upwards onto his own crossbar from a yard or so out as an attacker closed in.

HARD EARNED POINT AT PRESTON PARK
Mar 13, 2011, 9:28 pm

.........NO GOALS  - BUT NO "BORE-DRAW" EITHER

Borough brought back a point from their tussle with Harefield United in a game full of excitement and countless missed opportunities which could easily have  ended 5 a-piece instead of 0-0.   Both sides are entitled to feel they missed the chance to bag all three points while recognising they could just as easily have ended with none; any other result would have been rather unjust.   The game was marred by a gashed head sustained by Borough 'keeper Jamaine Edwards after only 10 minutes and his departure by ambulance to Hillingdon Hospital.    With no substitute 'keeper on the bench it was Nick Nicou who donned the gloves and played a confident part in maintaining a clean sheet.

DISAPPOINTING CUP EXIT SO........
Mar 11, 2011, 12:24 am

........SEASON NOW RATHER "FLAT"

Although taking a desrved lead in first half stoppage time at Leverstock Green, the home side stepped up the presure after the interval and netted twice to book their right to meet Colney Heath in the Final of the Premier Division Cup

This puts Borough in the unusual position of being already safe with their 46 points despite still having 13 games to play with nothing more than pride in performance now to play for.
