A COMFORTABLE HOME WIN BUT..........

.....BOROUGH A LITTLE FLATTERED BY THE 5-1 SCORELINE

The young Kentish Town side played some fine football but lacked a cutting edge, and were somewhat error prone at the back, but throughout the first half Town had looked the more likely winners even though they had fallen behind in the 2nd minute before equalising in the 43rd. only to fall behind again a few seconds from the interval.

.....BOROUGH RETURN WITH NOTHING FROM AN UNDISTINGUISHED GAME

This was a mid-table affair with nothing really at stake for either team and it lived up to that billing.    A game of very few chances was won by Hadley striker Jesse Reynolds cleverly directed header early in the second half and although Borough did raise their game somewhat after that the Hadley defence held firm and a fierce drive by Jamie Brandon which crashed back off the foot of a post was the nearest Borough came to an equaliser.

CHAMPIONSHIP CHASERS THWARTED BY.........

.....ONE OF BOROUGH'S BEST PERFORMANCES OF THE SEASON

Borough returned from Tring Athletics "Grass Roots Stadium" with their hardest earned point of the season from a 1-1 draw.    An outstanding display by 'keeper Greg Thurstans and a wholehearted performance by all his outfield colleagues with Richard Worrell netting a fine equaliser did the trick.   But in truth, Championship hopefuls  Tring must be cursing their wastefulness in front of goal, especially in the opening stages before Borough had got into their stride. Leaders Chalfont St. Peter opened the gap wider but had to come from behind in the 2nd half through a penalty and a last minute goal to win 2-1 at Holmer Green.

REJOICE, REJOICE, REJOICE GREATLY AS……..

..…................. BOROUGH WOMEN ENJOY THE FRUITS OF VICTORY AT LAST !

Borough Women ended their nightmare 11 match losing and goal-less streak at Woodbridge Town, to give themselves an outside chance of avoiding relegation if they can win four of their last six games. In a match full of commitment from both sides they fell behind after 25 minutes but before half time Lekesha James had drilled home a hard low equaliser so ending 1,027 minutes of erstwhile unsuccessful endeavour. The confidence and belief thus engendered was palpable and James put Borough ahead within seconds of the start of the second half and although “The Woodpeckers” equalised two minutes later Julia Carruthers lobbed Borough to victory mid-way through the half and Borough defended doggedly to preserve the lead.

..BUT A FINE PERFORMANCE AGAINST RYMAN PREMIER OPPONENTS

The 3-0 scoreline in Cray Wanderers favour will surprise no-one but it does not do justice to a fine Borough performance which made their high-flying hosts battle all the way to preserve their two goal first half lead - which was not increased until a speedy breakaway in the last minute, by which time Borough's interest in defending was not a priority.

SOME GOOD FORTUNE AS...

.....BOROUGH JUST EGDE TO ANOTHER 3 POINT HAUL

An uneven game on a heavy pitch at Holmer Green saw Borough return with an odd goal in three victory.   But it was courtesy of a spectacular "own-goal" from great distance which would probably have earned the scorer the goal of the season award had it not been directed into his own net !

Both teams tried to play some skilful football on a heavy bumpy pitch, which was not the ideal surface for a swift ground passing game, hence long balls were in plentiful supply too.

NOTHING TO SHOW FOR.....

....... A FINE PERFORMANCE DESPITE THE 4-2 REVERSE

Borough returned empty handed from Chalfont St. Peter's Mill Meadow ground but had produced one of their best performances of the season which had pushed the Champions elect all the way.   In fact Borough led 2-1 after 75 minutes forcing Chalfont to raise their game but it needed an own goal for them to equalise and the clinching 4th wasnot netted until the closing seconds of stoppage time.
