The first half was goal-less and after Borough had taken a 2 goal lead St. Margaretsbury netted a superb long distance strike two minutes from time to set up a nervous and lengthy period of stoppage time in which Borough finally clinched victory one minute from its conclusion. Feb 6, 2011, 11:46 pm ......MARCH FIXTURES PUBLISHED Borough will be in League action every Saturday and Tuesday throughout March. See "Fixtures & Results" page for details. There are likely to be a couple of Thursday games too as Borough are still involved in two Cup competitions in which the next rounds will probably be in March when the dates are announced. Feb 5, 2011, 11:19 pm ....BOROUGH WIN BY SOLITARY GOAL Borough edged home against Leverstock Green, who they will be visiting next month for a Premier Division Cup semi-final, thanks to a smart second half finish by David Boal in a game of very few chances. Feb 4, 2011, 7:41 pm BOROUGH STILL IN TWO CUPS LONDON SENIOR CUP Unfortunately our 3rd round tie away to Cray Wanderers of the Ryman Premier League will not take place on Tuesday February 22nd as scheduled because Cray have been given a fixture which takes priority. No new date has been announced but it will most likely be a midweek in March LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION CUP Our opponents in the Premier Division Cup semi-final will be Leverstock Green following their 2-1 win over Stotfold yesterday in which they came from behind to score an extra time winner. This too will be a midweek March nfixture, probably on a Thursday. The winners will meet Colney Heath in the Final Feb 3, 2011, 12:00 am .......BELOW PAR PERFORMANCE BAGS A POINT After three creditworthy but losing performances away to top teams a disjointed display at Kentish Town's Copthall Stadium, from whence Borough have never before left with anything, earned a point as Borough came from behind, took the lead before the interval and then surrendered it a few minutes from time Jan 29, 2011, 10:09 pm .......ANOTHER FINE BUT REWARDLESS DISPLAY An extraordinary result to a splendid game at Hanwell Town's Reynods Fields Stadium in which Borough played some of their best football of the season and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession and pressure. But a series of bungles in front of their own goal was too much to overcome as Borough found themselves three down inside twenty minutes but fought on regardless without getting any reward until a few minutes from the interval. Although Hanwell were reduced to 10 players after 20 minutes of the second half two further errors enabled them to finish 5-1 winners. The defeat gives Borough a 50/50 League record of 9 wins and defeats plus 5 draws and a goal difference, very much on the positive side not so long ago, now minus one. Jan 19, 2011, 1:01 am ......A FINE DISPLAY , BUT NO REWARD Ninety exciting minutes of end to end football with Borough not significantly outclassed by their third in the table hosts - and applying the greater pressure throughout the second half having gone two-nil down shortly after the interval. Unfortunately, both goals were rather cheaply conceded and a fine match really deserved to have been settled by finishes of greater quality. This match completed exactly half of Borough's League fixtures leaving them in 9th place in the table. |
