SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS CONSTITUTION ANNOUNCED FOR 2009/10

The League has today announced its Constitution for the new Season.   In the event the bottom two Clubs were not relegated.   The two lowest placed Clubs without the appropriate Ground Grading lost their places so we will not be visiting either Cockfosters or Holmer Green next season (Holmer Green were one of the bottom 2 Clubs anyway).  Kentish Town who were rock bottom are reprieved.   By the same token Kings Langley who finished 2nd in Division One are not promoted because of Ground Grading issues and instead third placed Hatfield Town are up along with Champions Royston Town.      Coming down are Hillingdon Borough from the Ryman League and Dunstable Town from the Southern League - the latter on account of a massive points deduction after the season had ended on account of ineligible palyers.

The Constitution was ratified at the League AGM on 20th June and the 21 teams Borough will be facing are:-

Aylesbury     Biggleswade United    Brimsdown Rovers    Broxbourne Borough V & E
Chalfont St. Peter    Colney Heath    Dunstable Town    Hanwell Town
Harefield United    Hatfield Town    Hertford Town    Hillingdon Borough
Kentish Town    Kingsbury London Tigers    Langford      Leverstock Green
Oxhey Jets     Royston Town    St. Margaretsbury    Tring Athletic
Welwyn Garden City

The First League game will be on Saturday August 8th

NEW SEASONS OPENING WEEKS

THE MENs TEAM will  begin their preparations for the new Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division season on Saturday 4th July with the triumvirate of TOM LOIZOU, CHARLIE DOUSE and PAUL McGIVEN, who successfully staved off the threat of relegation in the closing weeks of last season eager for the opportunity to chase success from a clean start.

The initial meeting place will be the Clubhouse at our Coles Park Stadium in White Hart Lane at 10. am

The teams pre-season Friendly schedule has been completed with 5 matchea  - all at Coles Park - of which 3 will be against Step 4 Clubs.

First up will be POTTERS BAR TOWN of Ryman Division 1  on Tuesday 21st July at 7.45pm.     ENFIELD1893, last seasons runners-up in the Essex Senior League will be there on Saturday 25th July at 3pm.     Ryman Division one side ILFORD follow on Tuesday 28th July (7.45pm)  and UXBRIDGE of the British Gas Southern League Division 1 will be the opposition  on Saturday 1st. August.      The programme will be completed on Wednesday 5th August (7.45pm) by the visit of NEW SALAMIS FC, the Champions of the KOPA League last season.        Competitive matches will begin on Saturday 8th August.

Potential new players who feel they have the ability to play at Step 5 in the National Game Pyramid and would like to be invited for a trial are welcome to send their playing cv to ClubSecretary@haringeyboroughfc.com for consideration by the Team Manager and Coaches.

A MONTHS REST NOW........
Jun 3, 2009, 12:33 pm

…………………… IT ALL STARTS AGAIN

Pre Season Training time is almost here.

THE WOMEN will be first out of the blocks, determined to maintain their superb closing run of 10 wins, one draw and one defeat which took them out of the relegation spots to within one win of the runners up position.

Sessions will take place every TUESDAY & THURSDAY at 7.30pm from
Tuesday JUNE 23rd  & Thursday JUNE 25th onwards until further notice.

The venue will be LORDSHIP RECREATION GROUND, LORDSHIP LANE, TOTTENHAM, N17 7QU. The entrance to the park is opposite Waltheof Avenue and a map can be obtained by clicking on “Location Details” on the left and scrolling down to Lordship Recreation Ground. Its about a 5 minute ride on bus route 243 from Wood Green Underground Station (destination Waterloo) which passes the ground - as does route 123 (destination Ilford) but that uses a different route and takes longer, The entrance is about a 5 minute walk from the Westbury Avenue/The Roundway/Lordship Lane junction which is served by buses on routes 144, 217, 231 and 444.

Potential new players are welcome to attend but it is recommended that they phone KARLA on 07776 153515 before attending for the first time as late changes are sometimes necessary.

Two pre-season Friendlies at Coles Park have been arranged for the afternoons of Sunday 26th July and Sunday 2nd August when the visiting opponents will respectively be be PANTHERS (of the London & South East Region Premier Division)  and TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR (of the South East Combination - the League into which Borough are hoping to be promoted by a successful campaign in the coming season)

THATS IT FOLKS.....

AT LAST ITS OVER

It fell to Borough Women to bring down the curtain on the Club's  season - which has run for nearly 10 and a half months starting with a game on 12th July last - with a home game at Coles Park against Hethersett Athletic.

In that Borough won 2-0 it was a satisfactory finale, but the season came to an unhappy end as the game had to be stopped  prematurely  after 70 minutes when a visiting player fell awkwardly and hit her head on the bone hard ground necessitating an ambulance.  It is understood she was released from North Middlesex Hospital after a few hours with her neck braced.

THIS SEASON.   OUR 6 TEAMS HAVE ENTERED 24 COMPETITIONS BETWEEN THEM AND THE UNDER 18s ARE THE ONLY TEAM WITH THIS REMAINING  HOPE OF "GLORY" - AND A WELL DESERVED OPPORTUNITY AS THEY OVERCAME STEVENAGE BOROUGHS UNDER 18s IN A THRILLING COLWYN CUP SEMI-FINAL AT COLES PARK EDGING HOME 2-1 WITH A LATE GOAL.

THEIR OPPONENTS IN THE FINAL WILL BE WALTHAM ABBEY AND THE MATCH WILL PROBABLY BE PLAYED AT ABBEY'S CAPERSHOTTS GROUND.    WATCH THIS WEBSITE FOR DETAILS OF THE DATE AND KICK OFF TIME (May 11th and 14th are possible dates)

THE UNDER 18s HAVE BEEN THE STARS OF A DISAPPOINTING SEASON AND FOR A LONG WHILE LOOKED LIKELY TO WIN THEIR LEAGUE DIVISION ONLY TO FALL AT THE LAST BY LOSING THEIR FINAL GAME BY THE ODD GOAL IN THREE.   AND  THEY EXITED THE JOHN ULLMAN CUP AT THE SEMI-FINAL STAGE LOSING A MULTI GOAL THRILLER TO A VERY STRONG CRAY WANDERERS SIDE BY 3-5 AT COLES PARK.

FOR THE MENS AND WOMENS TEAMS THE ONLY CAUSE FOR CELEBRATION HAS BEEN THE LATE SURGES WHICH HAVE SEEN BOTH ESCAPE FROM THE RELEGATION WHICH HAD EARLIER SEEMED A QUITE LIKELY OUTCOME.

THE THREE YOUTH TEAMS IN THE CHESHUNT YOUTH LEAGUE HAVE ALL ACQUITTED THEMSELVES WELL AND WILL PROBABLY ALL FINISH THIRD IN THEIR RESPECTIVE DIVISIONAL TABLES.
