Borough Youth Dismantle Dunstable Town
Borough played their second cup game in a week, where once again the match was switched from a home game to an away one due to the current state of our Coles Park pitch. However the U18s have not let the extra traveling have a detrimental effect as they have succeeded to progress in both the John Ulmann Cup on Sunday and the Colwyn Cup on Thursday.
It was a superb team performance to not only beat Dunstable, but to put in such a strong performance that the 4-0 scoreline was a fair reflection of the game. Furthermore, the result should not be underestimated as Dunstable Town sit joint second in their division and had an unbeaten home record prior to the match with Borough. In the 3rd round of the Colwyn Cup Borough face the winners of Cockfosters versus Harpenden Town. A full report will follow in the fixtures and results page. Feb 15, 2009, 3:44 pm
Michael Lends A Hand As Cheeky Goal
Wins Game for Under 18s
Borough U18s traveled all the way to the east coast to play Whistable Town FC in the third round of the John Ullmann (Kent Youth League) Cup. Haringey dominated proceedings but had to wait until 2nd half injury time to hit the winner, the goal came from a goal mouth scramble resulting in Michael Roche finding the back of the net with his cheek to claim a well deserved win.The other goal came curtesy of a Michael Hand penalty following a trip by the keeper on the penalty taker. It was a good team display and although the victory came late only one side looked like winning. In the quarter final Haringey will travel to VCD Athletic. However the next game is due to be played at Coles park on Thursday against Dunstable Town in the league cup.

and the WOMENS' TEAM climb off the bottom of the
table with a 6-2 win as reward for their 180 mile round trip
A last minute re-arranged fixture enabled Borough to catch up on their huge backlog of fixtures caused through Cup successes by conceding ground advantage to Woodbridge Town. In an 8 goal thrilller Borough took a 3-0 lead only to be reduced to ten players and concede two quick goals before the ten women re-asserted themselves to run out comfortable winners. They are now 7 points from safety with five games in hand on the team they must overhaul Feb 8, 2009, 10:57 pm
WOMEN END THEIR MISERABLE RUN TOO
Only one of Borough's teams played over the weather ruined weekend of 7th/8th February and the Women took the opportunity to make their long trip to Norwich worthwhile as they played on an excellent pitch in very cold but fine conditions. After four successive defeats they powered past Swanton United to book a place in the Quarter Finals of the Eastern Region League Cup with a 6-0 victory. Full report under "Fixtures & Results" tab. BOROUGH END WINLESS RUN
After their depressing run of 8 games without a win Borough battled back from going behind to secure the points with Niall Ritchie's 87th minute winner - his first for the Club. It was a deserved reward for an improved second half performance by the whole
team which lacked nothing in commitment and determination. Roy Parkyn had put Borough level just before the interval with a powerful swerving free kick from the edge of the penalty area. Jan 16, 2009, 1:50 am
MCCARTHY CLEAN SHEET HELPS BORO PROGRESS
This cup match was finally played after numerous postponements due to the bad weather. The game was played in good spirit on a cold evening at Coles Park with Borough wearing their familiar yellow shirts and green shorts. Although Haringey did not put in their most accomplished performance they progressed through to the next round where they will face Bury Town back at Coles Park. Goals from front two Michael Hand and Platini Lukenene, one in each half, secured the win in the U18s first game of 2009. Keeper McCarthy was in outstanding form and pickd up the man of the match award for not only some great saves but also some excellent catches from crosses. Borough were shaky in the first half but still went in one nil up. The second half was a stronger performance and in the end the result was quite comfortable. Full match report can be found through the fixtures & results link on the left hand side navigation bar. Borough's youth team are next in action on Monday 19th January in the John Ullman Cup at Coles Park against Whistable Town. Dec 21, 2008, 11:26 pm
........DISMAL RUN ENDED
Borough put an end to their disappointing run of 5 successive narrow defeats (all away from home) with a determined display in an end to end match at Colney Heath in which they twice led but were pegged back each time for a 2-2 draw.
It could have been 3 points as Borough missed a second half penalty ...... but then it could have been 0 points as Colney Heath twice hit the framework.
Overall a just result to a very open and entertaining game. Fuller report in FIXTURES & RESULTS Section Dec 21, 2008, 9:40 pm

Boroughs U18s progressed to the John Ullmann (Kent Youth League) Cup 3rd Round with a convincing 2-1 victory over Deal Town. Goals from Roche and Hand helped secure a third round tie with Whistable Town, due to be played in early January. It was an enjoyable game in which Borough produced some great flowing football. They deserved the victory and can now enter the Christmas break in excellent mood. Match report is up on Fixtures & Results page. The u18s will return to action in January. Dec 8, 2008, 1:22 pm
BOROUGH SIGN ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL
Borough are delighted to have secured the registration of full England International ELLEN MAGGS who numbers Arsenal, Watford, Birmingham City and, most recently, Welwyn Garden City (with which Club she remains dual registered) among her previous Clubs.
Ellen, who has played little football this season, made her Club debut in Borough's narrow 3-2 defeat at Hethersett Athletic last Sunday (December 7) playing for the first 60 minutes and showed that she will be a formidable presence in Borough's ranks when she regains full fitness. |
